Vichy After Sun

This is without a doubt the best after sun lotion I have ever used!

I have very sensitive skin - even though I have dark skin I burn quite easily! That is why I always wear sunscreen. However, after a long exposure to the sun - whether swimming in the pool or hiking in the mountains - I always apply this after sun lotion. Not only does this after sun hydrate the skin, it also soothes the sore feeling and considerably reduces the redness/burn overnight. It’s the only after sun lotion we use now.

We love the very pleasant fragrance, I use it all the time during the summer. My skin is beautifully moisturised and slightly satiny.

As usual for Vichy, this is an amazing product for an accessible price: EUR 13.00 for 300ml

Have a great weekend!

Lovely Shower Gel by Kneipp

I like to test products, preferably natural and high quality ones, without paying excessive sums.

Fortunately for me, I am rarely disappointed. When I find an excellent product, I tend to adopt it for a long time and I am always willing to share my discoveries with you.

Such is the case with these shower gels, purchased last month at the Coop supermarket. You can also find them at the Migros supermarket.

Kneipp is a German brand that was founded in 1890. Its aim is to produce natural products without preservatives, without silicone, without paraffin, etc...
Lemongrass & Green Tea shower gel
This intensely fresh aromatic treatment shower gel (a 2 in 1 shampoo & shower gel, in fact) is very soft and its perfume reminds me of Asian spas...  The skin remains soft and lightly perfumed with the scent of lemongrass and green tea.
*The 200ml tube cost CHF 5.50

Lemon Verbena shower gel
This wash provides gentle cleansing, leaving my skin soft and supple with a wonderful fresh scent. I love its fresh and sunny fragrance of the natural essential oil of lemon verbena. This natural treatment oil gives my skin a silky softness.
*The 200ml tube cost CHF 5.50

Zoé Skincare Products

I love to introduce you to quality Swiss beauty products at very affordable prices.

On a recent trip, I forgot to pack my cleansing and facial tonic. So my sister lent me hers. Zoé, the cosmetic line for sensitive skin. I was amazed by this excellent range of beauty products from Migros (a major Swiss supermarket chain).

It was so effective - my skin was radiant - that I offered myself this range of skin care products for sensitive skin. The total price of these 3 products came to CHF 28.20

As you already know, to have beautiful skin, you have to take care of it daily... and use the appropriate products for your skin type.

Let us now turn to the benefits of the Zoé range of products for sensitive skin:

Zoé Ultra-Sensitive Day Cream with UV filter treats and soothes sensitive skin, prone to irritation. Not only does it protect the skin from very harmful UV rays (and therefore against premature ageing), but it also refines the pores while unifying the complexion. No colourants, no preservatives, no perfume.
* Tube 50 ml, CHF 12.80

Zoé Micellar Cleansing Tonic - Lanablue & Cucumber extracts
Alcohol-free, this gentle tonic for the face clarifies and gently invigorates the skin, without irritating it. Its formula, which is based on the Micellar technique, makes it possible to remove dust particles and make-up residue in a gentle manner. Lanablue and cucumber extracts prevent drying of the skin and preserves its hydrolipidic balance.
* Bottle 200ml, CHF 6.60

Zoé Cleansing, soft cleansing foam - Lanablue & Cucumber extracts
This mild cleansing foam gently removes all traces of make-up and dirt. The foam is very creamy and generous, with Lanablue and cucumber extracts to avoids skin drying out and preserves its water balance.
* Tube 125 ml, CHF 8.80

And even if the cleanser acts as make-up remover... two weeks later I bought the cleansing milk.

Zoé Ultra Sensitive cleansing milk
This cleansing milk gently removes traces of make-up and dirt in depth. The skin is gently cleansed without being irritated.
No colorants, no preservatives, no perfume.
* Bottle 200ml, CHF 7.50

Must de Cartier Perfume

When my perfume ran out, I went to Marionnaud Parfumeries at La Praille shopping centre, to enjoy a 50% discount on the purchase of a new one. After having tried several perfumes, my choice settled on Must de Cartier. I tried it on my wrist and I was conquered by the chemistry of this fragrance on my skin.

I would say it has a winter oriental scent, very warm and elegant. In my opinion, this is a wonderful scent due to the perfect balance of its “notes” which are made up of galbanum, orange blossom, mandarin with sensual jasmine and a woody, vanilla, amber and musky oriental background.

This fragrance was launched more than 30 years ago and I have to say that I also like the masculine and practical form of the perfume bottle which is shaped like a golden lighter.

So, who said that we must ruin ourselves for beautiful and good things? In my opinion, it is necessary to buy intelligently.

I wish you a fabulous week ahead.

Andreia hypoallergenic nail polish

Regular readers will know that I am fond of home manicures and love nail polish, I am even preparing a blog post about home manicures for my lady readers so that you can do it yourselves without hurting your wallet!

Today, I am thrilled to introduce you to Andreia hypoallergenic nail polish. I discovered the Andrea brand last summer while I was on holiday in Lisbon and I was immediately seduced.

This famous Portuguese nail polish brand quickly became one of my favourites. Before returning to Geneva, I bought a whole stock for myself and my girl friends.

I love their palette of colours, the satin gloss texture and the faster drying and long lasting effect. Andrea hypoallergenic nail polish is a high quality product at a low price (they cost an average of € 2.30 per bottle).

If you’re looking for a good quality nail polish, I couldn’t recommend Andreia highly enough.

Toleriane Softening Foaming Gel - La Roche-Posay

Clarins has been my favourite skin care brand since my teens... yes, I know you’ve heard the whole shebang already... However, sometimes, you get a sample and you try it and after you see and feel the benefits and you say “this is my lucky day”, because you found a gem product. Well, you know what? Put the blame on my beautician for my infidelity to Clarins.

If memory serves me right, I have been using this cleansing foaming gel for five years. It is soft, pleasant, efficient and cheap.

I am no beauty expert, so I set out below the essential details to explain the product.

Recommended for what type of skin?
Normal to combination intolerant, sensitive skin.

What are its properties?
Enriched in hard water-neutralising and moisturizing glycerine.
Strict formula charter to minimise the risk of intolerance. Soap-free, preservative-free, fragrance-free, pH 5.5.

How do we apply?
Form a foam in the hand with warm water. Massage gently into the face. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry.

What’s this?
This is a rich, gentle gel for safe cleansing and make-up removal with water.
Its gel texture develops a rich foam that rinses easily and gently removes impurities and traces of makeup.

What package?
150 ml tube, price CHF 19.00

Actually, I use it in conjunction with the Clinique Sonic System purifying cleansing brush which has a Sonic movement that offers deep yet gentle cleansing and allows the skin to regenerate better by removing makeup, impurities, sebum and pollution. This reduces clogged pores, spots and imperfections. It optimises the efficiency of any treatments that are applied afterwards (see April 2016 blog post).

Et voilà ladies, a beauty item to start the spring in style. I hope you like it.

Naturaline Edelweiss Anti-Ageing Day Cream for Combination Skin

In early November, I took advantage of a 20% promotion at Coop City to let myself be tempted by this Naturaline cream which is certified by ECOCERT - 99.6% of the total ingredients are of natural origin and are from organic farming in Switzerland.

I have been using this anti-ageing day cream, which contains edelweiss extract, and I can tell you that it is every bit as good as more well-known brands.

I like the fact that its texture is very creamy but it does not leave a greasy film on the face. It is odourless and it moisturises and revitalises my skin well.

I am therefore delighted help you to discover it. It is always a pleasure to talk about very good products, unknown to you, but whose value for money makes them accessible to all. Its price is CHF 12.95 for a 50ml pot.

If you visit Switzerland, give these excellent quality products from Naturaline natural cosmetics a chance. There are branches of Coop City all over the country.

Valentine’s Day Gift

Hello ladies and gents

I hope you are well and that you are looking forward to Valentine’s Day on February 14th.

I know, I know... I’m a little late to post an idea for the day itself, but as Valentine’s Day is every day for those who are in love, here’s a great gift idea for your loved one:

A spa treatment in a 5-star hotel.

As I had received a Clarins gift voucher, I decided to try this spa and while I was there I took a few snaps and then wrote a small post.

Clarins is located within the prestigious Intercontinental Hotel located at Petit-Saconnex., the neighbourhood which houses the international organisations, such as the Palais des Nations United Nations Headquarters.

Upon my arrival at the hotel, I was warmly greeted with a big smile. After a brief look around the hotel and a trip to the rest room to wash my hands - the hand wash and hand lotion smelled divine - I went up to the second floor where the Clarins Spa is located.

The institute offers various treatments for the face and the body in a very luminous and tranquil setting.

I was very well received and I really enjoyed the atmosphere, as well as the relaxing massage with essential oils at the hands of a Clarins beautician, all of this complemented by very zen background music. My whole body thanks me for the experience.

It is important to take the time to do things for yourself, to relax and enjoy these pleasurable moments, either alone or as a couple, in a haven of peace.

Beauty Advent Calendar 2016 Feedback

Hello ladies and gents!

Many of you were curious to know what was hidden in my Lancôme Advent Calendar ("Countdown to Christmas" blog post). So here is the answer!!!

The Lancôme box was packed full of iconic beauty products, from their perfume “Trésor”, to their Nourishing Fragrance-Body Lotion “La Vie est Belle”, to their long lasting powder blusher colour veil “Bush Subtil”, to their gentle softening face and eyes cleansing fluid, to their discount voucher, plus there was a lot of mini makeup treats in there too.

Every morning I was excited to open these little golden boxes to see what was inside. I can tell you that my enthusiasm got to those around me…hahaha...

Happy Year 2017 to all my faithful readers.

Lots of Love.

The Belle of the New Year’s Eve Ball

The party season is in full swing, with much joy at lunches and dinners with friends (my family lives abroad).

I have already taken my festive outfit for the New Year’s Eve party out of the wardrobe. I will wear this beautiful green tulle skirt by Julia Gloor (purchased in November) and an old (so, so, so old!) black pullover, which still looks brand new.

And, for one night, I will trade my ballerinas for these high heel ankle boots.

To finish off the look, I’m going to put on these gloves and this faux fur coat by Carla G. to keep warm when we stick our noses outside to see the fireworks.

A hint of perfume for that final touch.

I have decided that I’m going to put on make-up. After all, it’s not New Year’s Eve every day! As luck is on my side, my Lancôme Advent calendar came full of make-up and beauty products. Since I am not skilled in make-up, I have asked my beautician and friend L. to give me some tips for using what I have in my make-up bag.

I’m buzzing in anticipation of New Year’s Eve.
