Montreux Christmas Market

Hello ladies and gents! I am just back in my little town, completely recharged and feeling so ooh la la....

How were your last two weeks? Hope they were lovely for you? Mine were filled with fun-packed activities and cocooning.

Okey dokey... Let's talk about what matters...Before my vacation, we went to Montreux Noël, Montreux Christmas in English, which is a huge market.

Montreux is famous for its Montreux Jazz Festival in July but not many of you know about its celebrated Christmas Market. Each year 500,000 visitors, from all over Switzerland and around the world, come to this festival of colours with its magnificent friendly atmosphere.

Fancy a little tour? Let me take you to

the legendary Medieval Château de Chillon...

Then on a stroll on the Lake Geneva shoreline to see Freddie Mercury statue...

Admire the illuminations: Santa Claus, snowman, reindeer, along the lakeside promenade ... everyone poses for the photo, kids and grownups alike.

And on to the lakeside market where more than 150 chalets/stalls are decorated and illuminated, all of them garnished with cute and exquisite Christmas gifts ideas.

I behaved: I only bought two "Vin Chaud" candles scented with spices. They will be perfect for my Christmas table.

...Later we headed to a splendid bar-restaurant at the Montreux Fairmont Palace...see the upcoming post!

Wishing you a very lovely week and let the little kid inside you shine through.

  1. Welcome back!

I love Montreux, especially the Jazz Festival, and I can echo your recommendation of the Christmas market.

The photos are, as always, fabulous . I ladore the shot of Freddie, but the standout picture is the jetty with the mountain backdrop: very atmospheric!
